Apprentice-Legislator Palpatine is unused to a much larger galaxy, but as he draws closer to becoming Ambassador of Naboo, he knows he needs a better understanding of what lies beyond... at least, that's what he tells everyone. 

After being left by his master to survive on the isolated Sith planet for weeks on end, young Lord Sidious is wounded and in dire straits, but his will is only the stronger for it... he can feel his power growing.

Jedi Padawan Sheev Palpatine found himself in serious trouble when he forged a red lightsaber in secret, but was allowed to keep it after showing that precedence could be found in the Order. 

Once Sheev Palpatine became a Jedi Knight, he entered the Consular rank and consequently began to take on some of the mannerisms and dress of the politicians who surrounded him. 

Over time, few noticed the darker trend of Consular Palpatine's Jedi clothing, or the higher quality of his robes.
